| Pittsburgh, PA – Today, LeanMed LLC announced a global non-exclusive licensing agreement with Philips, a global health technology leader, that will enable LeanMed to bring their solar powered oxygen production system, the O₂ Cube, to 40,000 rural health centers utilizing the Philips UltraFill oxygen filling station. These rural health centers serve 1.2 billion people but lack the grid electricity to provide adequate access to medical oxygen, which is a critical treatment for pediatric pneumonia.
The COVID-19 pandemic has only heightened the worldwide concern surrounding the lack of medical oxygen available in developing nations. In the near term, LeanMed plans to acquire previously owned UltraFills and run them through a refurbishment program for quality assurance prior to use in the O₂ Cube system.
“The license to manufacture and sell the UltraFill product will allow us to bring essential oxygen therapy to these rural health centers. In addition, we will establish advanced manufacturing centers for refurbishment and manufacturing”, stated Mark Adkins, CEO of LeanMed.
